Moving to Baguio City? Find the Best Location and Accommodation For You

Baguio, known as the “City of Pines,” is a picturesque mountain retreat nestled in the Cordillera Central range of northern Luzon, Philippines. Famous for its cool climate, scenic landscapes, and vibrant culture, Baguio attracts visitors from all over the country and beyond.

It’s also known as the Summer Capital of the country because it stays cold all year round. The temperature averages between 12C – 23C in the colder months of December to February and between 14C – 25C the rest of the year.

When to move?

I would say February to April would be best to make your move. Dry months are December to March so it would be easier to move your stuff and the general traffic conditions are better.

Wet season is between May to October with August being the rainiest month. I moved here in September and I remember experiencing rain almost every afternoon and early evenings.

You would do better adjusting and moving around with less rain so plan your move ahead of time.

Choosing a location

Whether you’re seeking a cozy guesthouse, a luxurious resort, or budget-friendly accommodations, Baguio offers a wide range of options to suit every traveler’s needs and preferences. In this guide, we’ll explore some of the best areas and accommodations to stay in Baguio for an unforgettable mountain getaway.

As one of the city’s main thoroughfares, Session Road is a bustling hub of activity with numerous shops, restaurants, and attractions. Staying in the Session Road area puts you within walking distance of popular landmarks such as Burnham Park, Baguio Cathedral, and SM City Baguio mall.

On some days, especially weekends, they close the whole street to vehicles and hold weekend markets, shows, or parades. This is the place to be if you want everything convenient. However, this area also gets the most crowded so expect noise and terrible traffic.

Accommodation options in this area range from budget-friendly guesthouses and backpacker hostels to mid-range hotels and serviced apartments, making it an ideal choice for travelers looking for convenience and accessibility.
